It’s almost the end of the year and I’m excited to finally find out the new color of the year. Pantone has just announced that Emerald is the 2013 color of the year!

I’m personally not a big fan of this bold color and I’ve read that the design community isn’t welcoming this color with open arms.

Green is one of those colors that is often perceived as eerie or can remind people of St. Patrick’s Day but can still be very pleasant and comforting. That said, it’s definitely not my color of choice but mix it with neutrals and it does tend to look really pretty.

Emerald greens are best used in children’s bedrooms, main bedrooms and can create a sense of a calm spa-like feeling.

I like this dining room with the dark gray painted walls, beige dinning chairs and it’s lighter flooring.

The gorgeous emerald green velvet drapes are a nice statement but not too overwhelming, I think it’s because the gray walls balance out the green drapes.

So, what are your thoughts? Are you a fan of the emerald green Pantone color of 2013?
