I know I’ve been talking about lighting a lot from the last couple of posts but I really like these modern retro style floor lamps. These classic Arco floor lamps were originally designed by Achille Castiglioni and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni for Flos in 1962. The Arco Lamp is considered a classic of modern lighting design and is now part of MoMA’s permanent collection that has won many awards. This style of lamp was inspired by Italian streetlights that helped with overhead lighting and that didn’t require ceiling suspension. I’ve seen these stainless steal lights available from $2,700 to some knock-off reproductions ranging from $200 and up. The base of the lamps is supported by a beautiful piece of marble.
I personally think these floor lamps are pretty fun to change up your design. I think I would most likely end up hitting my head a couple of times if I bought one. It seems like these lights would need to be placed in a room that is large in scale instead of a smaller space.
Here are some Arco floor lamps used in interiors.
Looks darling in this nursery.
Interesting seeing the Arco lamp paired together with traditional furniture. Maybe a couple of modern pieces would help tie this room together better.
