My good girlfriend asked me to help decorate her back yard for her birthday party she had earlier this week. We decided that it would be fun to choose bright vibrant colors to match her fun outgoing personality! We decided to go with a theme of Mexican fiesta and a mix of tropicana, perfect for a Summer birthday party. It worked out perfectly because I remembered my mom and I had saved these beautiful paper pom-poms we made two years ago. My mom also made these crepe paper flowers that were left over from a fiesta dinner party she was asked to decorate for last month.
This is the color theme we went for when decorating for the party.
My mom used mason jars and mixed some faux flowers from a craft store and added the Mexican crepe paper flowers together for a bright floral arrangement. Here is how to make your own from the blog The Bride Cafe
We added candles and little seashells in the center of all the tables.
We bought tiki lanterns to go around the grass area, it looked so pretty at night! Also had some sombreros laid out on the lawn chairs in case anyone wanted to wear one.
The Mexican pom-poms we made a while back and saved them. Here is how to make them from Martha Stewart.
I tied a couple of the chairs with these big fluffy pom-poms.
Holiday lights and paper lantern lights are a nice way to light up the outdoors for a party. It was so much fun helping my girlfriend for her birthday party. I spent a lot of my time earlier this week helping get it all set up. I hope this will help draw some inspiration when you plan on decorating your or your friends homes for a birthday party or special gathering.
