DIY: Mirrors turned Disaster

The other night my girlfriend and I worked on fixing her mirrors we picked out together at Target recently. This was a fun simple project that turned into a bit of a disaster. Here is what happened to our mirror project.
First we taped up the mirrors with duct tape because we ended up running out of painting tape but it worked just fine. Next we sanded down the frames so the paint would hold.
Next, we originally bought bronze de-stressed antiquing & semi gloss white spray paint at the hardware store. I thought it looked pretty painted bronze but my girlfriend had some trouble when she painted hints of white around the edges and it didn’t work out the way she hoped for. Unfortunately, I had to leave when she started painting with acrylic paint. I told her to have only a little bit of white paint on the brush then add some nice detailing to the frame.
Lets just say she got frustrated!
So she ended up spray painting the whole mirror white and mixed green acrylic paint into the frame.
I thought it turned out ok but the bronze paint with a hint of white would have looked much better. I think we may end up changing it back to what we originally wanted with the bronze with hints of white and not the light green.
Sometimes DIY projects don’t always work out they way we originally hope for but we had a great time any ways. I think the light green framed mirrors are growing on me now. It actually works for her bedroom. I told her to try sanding a couple of the edges on the frames because that would look great and give it some more decorative detail. Well have to see!
