Prop shops are great if you’re on a tight budget. I found this out by watching The Dear Genevieve show on HGTV. After watching the show I went online and did some research and found this store called Film Biz Recycling and it’s in Long Island, New York in an old industrial building. A non-profit company started in 2008 by, Eva Radke, worked as an art department coordinator for films and commercials for 15 years. The shop is filled with a vast amount of items donated from film and commercial productions. The shop has a lot of furniture, lights, pillows, blankets, electronics, home decor, artwork and much more. Next time I am in New York, I’m definitely stopping by to check it out. Try searching for other prop shops in your area, many of the shops will often sell to you. I think what she’s doing is so great and it’s so important to recycle. What some people think is junk could often be a designers or artists treasure.
